Creating your workspace

The workspace is the top-level container for your team, its channels, and its shared settings.

A workspace is the top-level container for your organization: every channel, member, document, and integration lives inside one. When you create a workspace, you automatically become its owner, which gives you full control over billing, security settings, and administrative roles until you choose to delegate them.

During setup you will name your workspace, pick a URL, and choose whether new channels are public to members by default or require an invitation. These defaults can be changed later from Workspace Settings, so there is no wrong choice at this stage.

Most teams start with a small number of channels and grow from there rather than trying to recreate their entire org chart on day one. The Workspace Admin dashboard gives you a live view of membership, activity, and storage as your workspace grows.
